Her mother, Irmgard Aluli, was one of the most abundant songwriters and one of Hawai`i's premier performers in a group known as Puamana. Mihana has spent the better part of her life performing with Puamana and in 2002 she broadened her base by releasing her first solo album "Rust On The Moon", which garnered her a coveted Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Jazz Album Of The Year. "Rust On The Moon" also caught fire on the mainland, where she reached #22 on the mainland charts and toured extensivley to sold out houses.
