Comments:

Dennis Kamakahi is featuring his son David on ukulele in this beautiful bouquet of songs. A real must for slack key (Ki ho'alu) lovers. I love his sweet, pure style. It's wonderful.

This second album produced by George Winston (Dancing Cat Records) again offers a delectable blend of original pieces by Dennis, old Hawaiian Classics, and songs written by Queen Lili'uokalani, one of his favorite composers.

As it's title 'Ohana sugggests, Dennis wants this album to express the continuity between generations. "Father to son, father to son, father to son, passing on the feeling, the aloha for each other, for the music, this is so important", he says.

Dennis Kamakahi and his son David are a delight and offer a masterful performance of the traditional Hawaiian style Slack Key Guitar and 'Ukulele.

My recommended "Best" new release for 1999 as it was in the top 20 on the World Music Billboard Chart within just a few weeks of its release this year.
