Comments:

Music composed by Helen Desha Beamer... guitar by her great grandson Kapono Beamer, while copyrights are owned by first publishers of many of her compositions.

This is the Hoku Hanohano Award winning Instrumental Album of the Year! The album CD jacket describes each song in historical detail, when and where composed, using the recollections of Helen's children.

Interesting notes include the fact that Helen was the first to record the traditional Hawaiian Wedding song along with Sam Kapu.

Her grandson Kapono Beamer was born the year after she died. Many of Helen's creations are suited for orchestral or full band performance, though Kapono here arranges them for acoustic guitars and Hawaiian nose flutes, and performs beautifully the famous compositions of Helen Desha Beamer, his great grandmother.

If you enjoy slack key guitar, this is a classic.
